Word Finder

The workflow is four steps and takes seconds. First, type the letters you have. You can paste them or type them one at a time. Capitalisation does not matter; the tool normalises everything automatically.

Second, add any constraints you have. If the board already has a 'T' you want to extend from, type T in the 'Starts with' field. The same applies to 'Ends with' and 'Contains'. Combine all three to narrow searches dramatically — useful when you're working on a partial word in a crossword.

Third, sort and review the results. The default sort is by length (descending), because longer words generally score higher in both Scrabble and Words with Friends. Switch to alphabetical when you're studying a letter family. Fourth, click any word to open the dictionary entry, see its letter-by-letter score, and view its anagrams.

In common Scrabble and Words with Friends rule sets, blank tiles can stand in for another letter and score zero points themselves. In Word Finder you represent a blank with the ★ (star) character. For example, entering C, A, ★, T asks the tool to try one missing letter and return matching entries from Kelimator's packaged list, such as CAST, CART, or CATS when present.

A blank is worth 0 points on the board, so it is often more valuable when it unlocks a hard-to-use letter, a bingo, or a strong board connection. The exact choice depends on the board and the rules of the game you are playing; the tool supplies candidates rather than selecting the move for you.

Word Finder is most useful as a training tool — using it during a live tournament match is, of course, against the rules. By regularly entering your rack and reviewing the possible words, you build pattern recognition: you start to 'see' bingos and high-scoring plays the moment you draw your tiles.

You can also use Word Finder as a bingo drill: write down the words you can find from a seven-letter rack, then compare them with the tool. Bonus values and accepted word lists differ between games and editions, so check the rules of the game you are playing.

Another use is rack balance checking. If you've drawn 6 consonants and 1 vowel, entering them will produce very few 4+ letter results. That's the signal to swap tiles next turn rather than play a weak short word.

Kelimator currently packages 63,730 Turkish entries produced by a TDK-based import and curation pipeline, plus a compact 3,650-entry English list derived from open general-purpose word data. These are working lists for the tools, not official tournament dictionaries; a game's own accepted-word list remains the final authority.

The matcher treats your rack as a multiset, so a letter cannot be reused unless you entered it more than once or supplied a blank. Starts-with, ends-with, and contains filters are applied to the same candidate set. Results may be capped for readability and page performance.

If your rack is C, A, R, T, S, E, L, start with no filters and scan the longest playable words first. Then add the board constraint: if the play must start with C, the candidate pool narrows immediately and you can compare close anagrams such as CARTS, CAST, CASTER, and RECAST by board fit.

For crossword solving, pattern knowledge often matters more than the raw letter pool. If you know a word contains AR and is six letters long, use the contains filter and sort by length; you will review a focused list instead of reading hundreds of unrelated results.

For vocabulary practice, enter a random 7-letter rack, write down the words you can find without help, then compare them with Kelimator's packaged-data output. The entries you missed can become a review list rather than a one-time answer.
