Winning Scrabble players know how to place high-value letters (Q=10, Z=10, J=8, X=8) at the right time on the right squares. This post covers both the highest-scoring words and the tactics behind them.

Strategy tips

  1. Don't hoard Q and Z. If a double/triple letter square opens up, play immediately.
  2. Memorize valid 2-letter words. QI, ZA, XU, JO are gold for placing high-value letters in tight spots.
  3. Aim for bingos. Playing all 7 tiles in one move earns +50 points. Watch for -ING, -TION, -ER endings.
